Join the bench

Hospitality work that treats you like an employee.

Because that is what you are. We employ our staff on PAYE, pay weekly, accrue your holiday pay, and tell you where you are going before you set off. If you have worked for an agency that does none of that, you already know why this page exists.

What we offer

The deal, stated plainly.

01

Employed, not "self-employed"

PAYE, with tax and National Insurance handled at source. No unexpected bill in January, no pretending you run a business you do not run.

02

Paid weekly

Every week, on time. Holiday pay accrues at 12.07% on top of your hourly rate rather than being quietly folded into it.

03

Briefed before every shift

Venue, access point, start and finish times, dress code, who you report to and what the service involves. You should never arrive somewhere not knowing what you are walking into.

04

A paid trial shift

Your first shift with us is a real, paid shift with a supervisor alongside you. We do not do unpaid trials — they are exploitative and they put off exactly the people we want.

05

Rates that rise with the role

Waiting, bar and supervisor rates are all different. Show us you can run a floor and there is somewhere to go from waiting staff.

06

Someone answers the phone

If you are stuck outside a locked service entrance at 6am, you get a person, not a voicemail box.

Hourly rates vary by role and are confirmed before you accept any shift. You will never be asked to work without knowing what it pays.

What we look for

Experience helps. It is not the whole thing.

We would rather have someone with one solid year who notices the empty glass than five years of turning up and waiting to be told what to do.

Apply now
  • Real hospitality experience, with venues and dates we can check
  • Two references we can actually call
  • The right to work in the UK, with original documents to show us
  • Presentable, punctual, and unbothered by a long service
  • Able to take a brief and run with it without being followed around
  • Based in or around London, and able to get across it early

No experience yet but genuinely keen? Say so on the form. We cannot promise anything, but we read every application and we would rather see it than not.

The process

From application to first shift.

  1. 01

    You apply

The form below takes about three minutes. Everyone gets an answer either way.

  2. 02

    We call your references

Two of them, actually on the phone. It is the stage most agencies skip.

  3. 03

    Interview, in person

A conversation about how you work. Bring your right-to-work documents — originals, not photographs.

  4. 04

    A paid trial shift

A real shift, paid at the going rate, with one of our supervisors working alongside you.

  5. 05

    You are on the bench

Shifts are offered by message with the venue, times and rate stated up front. Take what suits you.

Tell us about yourself.

Three minutes. If it is a yes, the next step is an interview and then a paid trial shift.

Questions

From people thinking about applying.

Do I have to commit to a set number of shifts?

No. Shifts are offered and you take what works around your life. We will be straight with you though: the people who make themselves available regularly get offered the better work first, because we know what they can do.

Is the trial shift paid?

Yes, at the normal rate for the role. We do not run unpaid trials.

What do I need to bring to the interview?

Original right-to-work documents — a passport, or a share code and the supporting ID. We check and record these for everyone before a first assignment, as we are legally required to.

What should I wear on a shift?

The dress code is in your brief before every assignment, and we issue a written presentation standard covering uniform, footwear, grooming and phones when you join. You will never have to guess.

When do I get paid?

Weekly, with holiday pay accrued at 12.07% on top of your hourly rate, and tax and National Insurance deducted at source. You get a payslip like any other employee.

One more thing

Know someone good?

The best hospitality staff are almost always recommended by other hospitality staff. Send them this page.
